I eat at them maybe 2-4 times a month for my work lunch.
From a waste standpoint, you actually produce less waste by eating at fast food place because they buy things in bulk which requires less packaging then if you were to make the same meal yourself.
From a health standpoint, it's not all that great to be eating out all the time.
I wish there was a "healthy" fast food place that offered more then 1-2 vegetarian choices.
Of course, this does depend on how you define fast food chain. Because if Noodles is one, I'd have to reply that we eat there a few times a month! Mmmmm....
Not almost, but...
NEVER!
In-n-Out tastes good.
Yes, where is the option for never?
I almost never eat fast food, but there is One healthy, environmental friendly, organic fast food place - Evos, I think they're only in Floridia right now.
i wish the survey said never, i never eat at a fast food place unless you count the local place that has fast food style food but the menu is almost entirly vegan and i think it's all organic, i go there a few times a year.
I eat at Subway sometimes, despite there only being one vegan option.
There was a good vegge/vegan fast food place in nottingham called V1. It's a pitty it closed down, would have been cool if they had been franchised around to world.
I rarely eat fast food. When I say rarely, I mean maybe once every couple months or so. I usually take my meals to work. The reason I don't eat fast food, is 1.) very high in saturated fat (unhealthy) which always makes me sluggish. Which in turn, makes it very difficult for me to have the energy to go to the gym or surf. 2.) Very bad for the environment. The pesticides to cultivate the "fixins" for the burger, hot dog etc., as well as the packaging for the meal either flow into the ocean or go to landfills. I say, "NO THANKS".
I said almost never, but that is because there isn't one of these in my town:
Chipotle!
I know, they're now owned by a giant corp of which I'd rather not speak, but they are definitely the best food joint in the "fast" industry:
Their website says "FACTORY FARMS SUCK", many franchises have recycling and local buying programs (veggies and stuff from nearby farms only), and some go so far as to offer organics.
I was also looking for the 'never' option. However, 'never' wouldn't be strictly true as I remember almost 20 years ago, sulking in a MacDonalds because my friends wanted to pay homage to false idol of Ronald 'there really is something wrong with me' McDonald, rather than eat at a locally run establishment serving good food.
I'm still trying to convince them but I haven't set foot in a fast food resturant in years.
My favorite fast food places do not have a drive thru...i'm not sure if that counts, but i'm not being served by a waiter so i count it as fast!
Not once. Or, never if you prefer. But zero times per any chronological unit you wish.
you can eat cheap ($2.10) and vegetarian to fullness at taco bell. not all fast food is created equal. the more important way to help the environment is go vegan.
The results of the poll make a nice staircase. I'm sure that on some other websites the results would be inverted.
I generally stay away from the big chains (except occasionally Subway or a veggie burger from Harvey's), but there are some smaller chains I go to once in a while. How else is a busy guy who loves falafel supposed to get by in the world?
I can stay away from fast food at home but when travelling I usually don't have time to eat in a restaurant or pack a lunch and the convenience of fast food is just too much to bear. I guess I just need more willpower.
Does Tim Horton's coffee count?
I eat at what I consider the "healthier" fast places here in Los Angeles sometimes - KooKooRoo (lots of vegetable side dishes), Panda Express chinese food (again with the veggies), and - maybe this doesn't really count - the highly addictive Zankou Chicken.
