Customized Recycling Bins
by Justin Thomas, Virginia on 03.22.06

These customized recycling kiosks were created by four graphic artists as part of a design competition. Orders are now being accepted for a limited production run. A portion of the purchase price is donated to the artists and the nonprofits Earth Share and Youth Venture. Available in four designs, these fade proof kiosks are made of 30% recycled materials. More information can be found on the Recycling Bin web site. :: Via Great Green Goods

Yecch. While I'm all for supporting small artists and environmental non-profit groups, I wouldn't one one of these eyesores in my backyard. Why not something that looks, I dunno, natural?
This should be an almost.
"30% recycled materials"?
It's a recycle bin, for crying out loud. Lead by example: how about "100% post consumer materials"?
(and yes, they're ugly)
The point of these bins is to stand out. They are for public places and many people won't use them unless they are obvious. I am working to get some for our high school. We WANT them to be seen!
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. If while traveling I came across one of these I would think the community was doing something positive to encourage recycling.
As part of my gcse I am looking at recycling units. I have seen many recycling untis over the past 2 weeks. To many.... shudder. Anyway. I like the pop art ideas and designs.Although it appear's this design has no real use and is just a gimic. Sort of like the tory party at the moment. Anyway i like how the design raises awareness but i find it usless.

I am looking for weatherproof recycling containers that can hold hundreds of gallons. Where can I get something like this?
