Wisconsin Proposes 10% Renewable Electricity Bill

The Wisconsin senate has passed a bill that requires 10% of the electricity generated in the state to come from renewable sources by 2015. The bill is now headed to the state Legislature. It is designed, in large part, to reduce Wisconsin's dependence on out-of-state energy sources. It could generate billions in wind-power projects for the state's economy. The state reportedly generates about 3 percent to 4 percent of its own renewable energy, but the bill would expand that to 10 percent by 2015. See this previous post on Wisconsin's proposed legislation in this area. :: Via: Triple Pundit and Green Bay Press-Gazette

So. -sigh- I’m tired...so tired. Why do we celebrate these little things and consider them as victories? This is the same as parents congratulating their 6 year old after pooping. Who really cares about 10% PROPOSAL? It’s time for us to be moving on. We need to stop commending our politicians on these baby steps that are only the natural progression of this system anyway and start commending them if they actually move our society forward. Let us know when they PROPOSE AND PASS a 100% goal. Until then, we will be sitting here...unimpressed.

one thing I find very very interesting about the alternative energy movement that republicans ignore is the lowered cost of importing goods. There are TWO variables in our economy import and export and as we are importing more and more and exporting less.. wouldn't it be a great idea to try to atleast reduce our imports? Maybe even in doing so develop new things to export?
