"Waste of Packaging" Finalist: "Little Stinkers"
by Sean Fisher, Cincinnati, Ohio on 02.24.06
It is not often that you are expected to throw away not only the package a product comes in, but the product itself. However, that is exactly the case with these doggie "pickup bags" sent in by Jared Benedict. "These "Little Stinker" poop bags come nicely packed inside a bag, which are then packed inside another bag. The lady at the pet store asked if I wanted a bag for my purchase. I declined." Thanks Jared! Check out the picture after the jump.

God forbid that the bags that you are about to fill with shit get dirty.
I was talking to a friend who owns a pet store, and we were wondering if there is any micro methane capture technology that would enable a pet border/groomer facility to generate energy from its waste poop. Any idears?
At least the cashier was considerate enough to ask if you wanted a bag and didn't force one on you. Sounds like she was trying to do as much as she could from her end. Wait, no, let's mock her anyway.
Whats especially wasteful here is the repeated use aspect of this product. Unlike an ipod or body lotion(not that those arent a different type of extraordinary waste), these meant to be used and thrown away daily.
On the Mythbusters, they found that human waste produced very little methane, so I think that it'd be hard to generate power from pet waste. But who knows, dogs might be different.
