Treehuggers know that plastic grocery bags are a blight; we have posted many alternatives; Here is another- very cute bags from a a site that notes:" It takes only 4 grocery shopping trips for an average family to accumulate 60 plastic bags. and "the average lifespan of a single conventional plastic bag is 400 years." Being clever "experierience designer" types at Messenger, they came up with the "take your bag for a walk- every day" idea as a Christmas givaway and turned it into a campaign. 3 bags for 20 Canadian bucks at ::takeyourbagforawalk.

""the average lifespan of a single conventional plastic bag is 400 years." "
Uh HUH!
I'd love to have a plastic bag that did not rot or mildue that would last a week! OK it will if I keep it in the dark!!
The average plastic product produced in the Us today even if left out in the open as trash would be lucky to last a couple of years as an intact product!
One ot the biggest travesties this nation ever did was ban the foam fast food containers. They are gone in a year, the paper and wax will last 6 times such in the same conditions! Oh and did I happen to mention we need a forest or two each year to make them? As opposed to a few barrels of oil for the foam?
But since when did accurate scientific claims lead to contributions?
