We covered the Autumn Swap-O-Rama-Rama event and it turned out to be a success. Not only did 500 people attend but 4,000 lbs of clothing was recycled! People learned about recycling textiles and became inspired as they made clothing items for the first time. For those of you that missed this fun event (and for those of you that want to attend again), the planning for the Winter Swap-O-Rama-Rama is underway. On February 12th from 2pm – 7pm, explore the reuse process through the recycling of used clothing, DIY workshops and a seasonal clothing swap. This event will be held at Galapagos Art Space in Brooklyn, New York. Just come with a bag of unwanted clothing (materials are free) and $10 and take home all the clothes you can carry! ::Swap-O-Rama-Rama

We're trying to organize an event like this in Baltimore (with Wendy's permission). If you're interested in helping drop a line to ramaramabaltimore@gmail.com

Very cool - since moving to LA from NYC 7 years ago, I have come to know another local variant on this theme. GF's here have had "Naked Lady" parties - women only events where a bunch of friends gather, everyone brings clothes they don't want anymore and let the trading begin! Everything is free. The "naked" bit refers to girls being able to try everything on in front of each other...the host's dining room becomes a big dressing room, hopefully with cocktails and tofurkey hors d'ouevres being served...

I work for a local council in London. I am a waste prevention officer. Scheme/Events like these are great for me to think of doing. I have organized two Give or Takes and they have been extremely succesful. Though we dont accept clothes, as these can be deposited in the TRAID and OXFAM cloth banks available in our Borough. This are reused in the 3rd world and Budapest.

However, its very interesting to see that this attracts people. I will think about it. Updates in my blog

Thanks
