by Kyeann Sayer, Nomad on 01.26.06
Take Action (events)

banner.gifAs our Dress an Eco Celeb contest makes plain, we love covering those celestial bodies in earthly garb. Well, so does Greenloop. Only, those smarties are doing it in the flesh, with some of the best eco-threads around, at Sundance this week.

The Greenloop Eco Fashion Showcase runs through the 27th at the East Meets West Virtual Spa Retreat and wraps up on Saturday the 28th at a private suite at the Treasure Mountain Inn, a Certified Green Hotel. Sponsors include faves SalvationSacks, coolnotcruel, Deity Aton, Ciel, Moonrise Jewelry, and Littlearth. Don't you wish you were there? :: Greenloop Sundance Blog

Expat, thanks for your interest -- they are part of the Green Hotel Association: http://www.treehugger.com/files/2005/01/green_hotels_as.php. Here is more about their enviro commitment: http://www.treasuremountaininn.com/environment.htm. I will also post on them.

don't get me wrong kyeann i think GreenHotels kick butt, and would KILL to get my hands on one of their catalogues (if for no other reason that to see what kind of waste-heat saving devices they use (yeah yeah yeah i know green geek... sue me!)

it's just the certified thing that made my ears stand up. are you saying that, essentially if one makes it to their members list then they are certifiably a green hotel? It's not like ther's a new certification like CCOF, C2C, IFOAM, HFAC, NOP, JAS... right? or is there now a GH certifying bod?

It's the language that Greenloop uses. Membership is equalling certification, it seems. We were clear about our ambivalance towards an industry org in the original post on them. Again, you can check out the hotel's site yourself to see if their standards are high enough to make you want to stay there.

The point of the current post is that there is a lot of eco-fashion exposure at Sundance this year!
