Building Green: A Complete How-To Guide

by Justin Thomas, Virginia on 01.25.06
Culture & Celebrity (books)

1579905323.01._SCLZZZZZZZ_.jpgThis is an excellent and highly practical book. It's the first step-by-step green building guide that I've seen. The book is lavishly illustrated with photographs showing each step of the building process. The authors, Clarke Snell and Tim Callahan, explain techniques like Earth Plastering, Straw Bale Construction, Living Roofs, Cordwood Building and Cob Building. At over 600 pages this is a hefty book and highly useful for anyone wanting to see the nitty-gritty details of green building. The author's web site is Think Building Green. Available from: Amazon or Powell's

This is great and all. But I am actually about to build a house and instead of sustainable materials, I really need a book about sustainable electronics such as solar panels, LED lighting and any other things that can reduce/eliminate an electric bill. I'm building from the ground up so anything goes really.

Darn, I've had a review copy of this book on my to-do pile and completely forgot about it. Thanks treehugger for the head's up... One of the nicest press releases I've seen, colorful and funky. Really nice project. In bookstores next month!
