Omniflex and DuPont(TM) "Active Layer" Films: the Waterproofing Alternative for Gear

Attention all wet-footed TreeHuggers. Your high-performance breathable waterproofing and windproofing choices for parkas, gloves, hiking boots, fishing gear and the like include polyurethane films and "Goretex(TM)", the latter being problematic from a recycling perspective. The new option from Omniflex is a thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) film. Reclyclable when used with 100% polyester fabrics, the "Active Layer" line needs no bioaccumulative "PFOA" for manufacturing. The product will be featured at the 2006 Outdoor Retailer Winter Market in Salt Lake City. Outdoor Retailer has a really interesting Green Steps program they are promoting for their members.
