More Photos of 2007 Toyota Camry Hybrid
by Michael Graham Richard, Gatineau, Canada on 12.10.05

Why is the 2007 Toyota Camry so exciting? Because it is the best-selling car in the US and many other countries, and for the first time it will be available with a hybrid drivetrain. It is probably the next big step in mainstream acceptance of fuel efficient, very low emission cars. We've been covering it fairly extensively lately (see links at the end of this post) and figured that it wouldn't hurt to show even more pictures, including of the interior. Don't worry, we're not turning into a car dealership; we just know that many people plan car-buying decisions ahead and that since information about the 2007 Camry hybrid is sparse at this time, that we should try to help people make informed decisions on whether to wait for it or not (and buy a Prius or Civic hybrid instead, maybe). A lot more below.

Thanks to an anonymous photographer for sending these photos to Autoblog. It is unknown if the photos above are from a hybrid model or not, but since the body-style will be the same, it doesn't matter much.

Terror is stricken in the hearts of Detroit-based execs.
I don't understand where the pictures come from. The pictures from "More photos of the 2007 Toyota Camry" have a different front-end and a different radiator than the one on your other pages. Which one of them is the real Camry???
Thierry,
I think that within the 2007 Camry lineup some cosmetic differences are to be expected among different models. The Mazda 6 has some of that too in the front grille.
It is obvious by the looks of the instrumentation that this pic is not the hybrid. This is most likely the SE with the sport dash trim. Also a sport grill and larger wheels.
In another treehugger photo of a black vehicle please look carefully of the nameplate right in front of the rear wheels. (hybrid??)
John Laumer where did you get that idea. Next year Ford is rolling out a Hybrid Fusion a car that competes head to head with the Camary. Not all Detroit based car companies are backward just many think they are. GM should be sweating, they're no where near having anything to compete.
I agree with Jasper that these are not photos of the hybrid. All toyota hybrids are equipped with a CVT which does not offer a sequential shift mode. The two are not compatible. The sequential shift mode is indicated by the "S" on the shift position indicator in the shot of the gauges and the black box beneath the tach which indicates what gear you are in.
Tim Russell - any indication if Ford has progressed past the first generation hybrid technology that they bought from Toyota years ago for the Escape, or is the hybrid Fusion still going to use the same old stuff?? (Considering Toyota is now using its third gen hybrid tech.)
The 2007 Toyota Camry looks good outside. If the inside of the car is anything like the photos, the white-backed gauges make the car look chintzy, gaudy and cheap. Same goes for the two-toned steering wheel. I'll have to reconsider my choice of cars.
When would the new 2007 Camry actually be available for sale? I was going to buy a 2006 but I may wait for the 2007, depending on the answer to my question. Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hold on a sec Joe Bieliunas! This is certaintly not the XLE trim level of the Camry! You might change your mind when you see a beautiful leather and wood grain in place of the light grey plastic trim. This New Camry is basically a scaled down version of a Avalon. The Avalon, by the way is by far the classiest car in it's perspective class. Couple this sleek new look with the world's highest tech Hybrid system in production, LOOK OUT REMAINING DOMESTIC ENTHUSIASTS!! Toyota will easily surpass GM as thw world's largest auto manufactorer this year with this Camry and the new 3/4 ton, 1 ton, deisel Tundra's coming as well in 2007!
Mark Brock: I thank you for your input. If the photos are of the new 2007 Camry, I'm hoping the white-backed gauges are not going to be a standard feature. I have looked at and rented a car with the white-backed gauges (Dodge Stratus) and in my opinion, they are not sporty looking and look thrown on. I Emailed Toyota a question and they sent me back an answer, saying they're not sure what the gauges will look like. I'm looking at the Camry SE, but not the XLE. Here's hoping you find the Camry or car of your choice, you are looking for.
I was driving to Starbucks today and drove up to a semi truck unloading a silver Hybrid Camry. It was sitting on the street, still on the lift. The fron panels and grill were a little different the pics on here. The panels and grill looked like the ones on Acura TL, same side markers and headlights. I'm not sure how to put pics on here, but I have some I took with my cell phone camera.

You left no email to reach you, so I'll write this here:
You can send your pics to mike at treehugger dot com with whatever name you want me to credit them to.
Chris, the new 2007 Camry will be available for sale in March 2006.
Bought a 2007 Toyota Camry XLE three days ago. I have 182 miles on it. The paint on the front bumper has a quarter inch scratch. The hood has 3 rough rusty spots size of a large grain of sand. Is there a problem with Toyota paint this year???
