More on Magenn
by Lloyd Alter, Toronto on 12.30.05
We are proud of our role in the bandwagon of press and coverage of Magenn Power Systems that started with our original post- CEO Mac Brown and inventor Fred Ferguson tell us that they have been overwhelmed with interest. Now Tyler Hamilton, technology writer for Canada's largest newspaper, has picked it up, along with some interesting background and a few notes of scepticism. Read his blog at ::Clean Break or ::The Star

One should note that the scepticism comes from Paul Gipe, someone with enough experience to have seen similar designs come and go. To paraphrase Paul, call me back when you've got two years' verified operational data from one of these, then we can talk.
In addition to having real interest as an alternative source of energy, the Magenn 'kite' generation proposal is also of interest to the world-wide kite community.
Horizontal rotor kites have been around for quite some time (at least back to the 1930's although documentation is scarce and conflicting).
My blog entry at http://www.best-breezes.squarespace.com/journal/
outlines some interesting facts about horizontal rotor kites and helps to spread the news of the Magenn proposal to kiters around the world.
Continued bes wishes to you on your fine work in your blog!

In discussing Magenn with friends and colleagues, our main concern (aside from it actually working!) is whether local councils, neighbours etc. would appreciate having one hoisted above the house! From a UK perspective, such Nimby-ism could be a real problem. I hope it works though and gets deployed in the UK, as it has certainly drummed up a lot of interest.
They have signed a partnership with Krystal Planet. I don't if this kind of announcement will overcome the doubts but at least they have one distributor.
