Donald Schmitt is partner in one of Canada's most prominent architectural firms and has strong opinions on urbanism and sustainability. He was recently interviewed on a remarkable website, Raisethehammer.org, dedicated to the revitalization of Hamilton, Ontario. This town of half a million has all of the assets a great city needs: industry, topography, location and a stunning harbour, yet somehow lost its way. Ryan McGreal is trying to bring it back and doing amazing work through Raise the Hammer; Don Schmitt has added his wisdom in this interview where they discuss sprawl, Jane Jacobs and designing liveable cities. ::Raisethehammer.org
