Get Newsfeeds on Your Toilet Paper!

With this gadget you'll be able to read Treehugger posts before you wipe! Created by Yi Tien Electronics, this device hooks up to your computer wirelessly, and prints random RSS posts right to your toilet paper. Whats the eco aspect here? Well, it's printing on paper that you'll be flushing (or composting) anyway. It also integrates “biometrically” with your toilet bowl. When you sit, it’ll weigh you, and according to the result, deliver your customized feed. Some say it's fake, who knows? :: Teapot The Cat via OhGizmo!

HA! Good one, JT.

Now I can finally give crappy blog postings the appropriate treatment.

Be sure to load up with 7th Generation. I hear they have better print quality and higher brightness than Charmin or Scott.

In a word: brilliant

It looks like a regular ATX computer case except where the components should be there's a roller with paper on it.

Apparently this is a hoax, albeit a good one. Google search for "Yi Tien Electronics" doesn't give any details about the company.

It's better not to wipe at all. Bidet usage is more sustainable.

What you are looking at is a thermal barcode printer. Companies like Zebra, Eltron (now part of Zebra), DataMax, and TSC make them for labeling and shipping industries.

The model you are looking at looks like a Zebra. If you had firm enough paper you could do this. Mind you, I would not want to use toilet paper that was firm enough to make it through one of these printers.

Note: some of these printers can print at 12 inches per second ensuring that you have plenty of.. er.. material on hand for your needs.

Maybe we need to build this into our systems. With rapid-dissolving toilet tissue of course for faster biodegrading.

great for those depraved people who like to sit hunched over a steaming stinking pile of their own crap and read. I like to get it out of the way quickly, not delay. That said, I am a fast reader. . . . . .

ok so that anon comment there about a Bidet got me thinking....

what do you think has the smallest footprint:
-a bidet and towl (washing/drying the towels will be the energy pig)
-or recycled toilet paper (and all of its embodied energy, possible plastic wrapping...)
-or one of 'em funky Japanese toilets that has robotic bidet arm and hot air blower? I mean it must take th emost energy to make, but over the life of the product (25 years of toilet paper...)

sure the addedbells/whistles like preheated seats for wonterime woudlnt be very TH but the robot bidet arms.... i think that would have the smallest footprint. even Shitbegone is wrapped in plastic
