Etsy: Online Marketplace for Things Handmade
by Lloyd Alter, Toronto on 12.18.05
It is a little close to the holidays, but we just discovered Etsy, "an online marketplace for buying and selling all things handmade" It is sort of an eBay for handmade stuff- nothing on the entire site is mass-produced. (Treehugger previously mentioned it here) Hundreds of artists and craftspeople putting their wares in one place- there are more unique iPod cozies here than there are iPods. We fell in love with the Lego creations of Nanobonbon and don't tell our daughter, but she is getting a lego version of Leonardo's Vitruvian man for Christmas well, maybe the eighth night of Channukah, we have left it rather late. ::Etsy
