Oprah Winfrey Talks About Global Warming (For Real)
by Erin Courtenay - Madison, WI on 11. 1.05
My fellow TreeHuggers, a round of applause for Ms. Oprah Winfrey. For years the environmental movement has dreamed of the day when Oprah would invite us into the living rooms of that coveted and all important constituency: the soccer moms. Thanks to Leonardo DiCaprio's commitment to the cause and Laurie David's brilliant Stop Global Warming campaign, we finally made it. Last week Ms. Winfrey hosted a frank and thorough discussion on global warming with Leo DiCaprio and Dr. Michael Oppenheimer. During the show they discussed the consequences of an over dependence on fossil fuels; the contribution of landfill waste to green house gases and the dire need for a strong policy response to the problem. They even took a tour of a super green family home. Best of all is the place of honor the show has on Oprah's website!

Dear Sirs
Climate Change first must be positoned correctly to the humanity, before a Climate Movement can and will be born.
The Climatei s not an envirnmental issue, its a Clean Air for our children issue.
When we tell mothers globally. That air pollution is and will kill their children. Does it really matter if your child had a nutrious Kellogg breakfast, has an obesity issue or you drive a big car.If your child can't breath Clean Air every three sconds?
The light bulb has already gone out for humanity Oprah on secuirng our existing quality of life.
The challenge is for mothers to now birth the new renewable energy quality of life for their children.
And the scientists and energy providers already know this and are glad mom's are still in the dark
Oprah Winfrey is one of the best examples of being born into humble circumstances and pulling oneself up by the bootstraps and going on to become one of the most confident, powerful, and successful persons in the world.
Let's see...Oprah and Leo both travel extensively by private jets. The Gulfstream Oprah uses gets 0.20 miles per gallon per passenger. A Boeing 747 gets considerably more than that.
How many "unneeded" trips in a year do Hollywood stars make? How many of those trips could be made in a MUCH more fuel efficient public aircraft?
One BS roundtrip from Chicago to the West Coast consumes 4800 gallons of fuel in Oprah's jet. That's nearly 10X more fuel on that one trip than an average car owner consumes in a year.
