2006 Prius Pricing and Options Announced

Toyota has released details on the changes in the 2006 Prius hybrid car. First of all, the MSRP will increase by $475, or 2.1%, to $21,725. The car will now include many new standard features and options, such as an audio package that includes MP3 player support and a mini-jack port, standard Tire Pressure Monitoring system as well as sensors that detect the size of the front seat occupants to determine whether or not to deploy the airbag. The headlights and taillights have been restyled and there's a front lip spoiler. Optional leather seating and a leather-wrapped steering wheel (not a very treehugger option...) are now available. Also new is the optional rear view camera and an upgraded GPS DVD navigation package that can now be used with voice-recognition while the Prius is in motion. Photos below.

Posts like this are promoting the corruption of our nation's youth. Gratefully, it can be reported that House Bill HR271.31, currently in markup by Senate conferees, calls for parental consent signature prior to TreeHugger purchase of non-SUV car loan approval. (:->
All sounds good. But one correction: You can initiate the GPS system using voice commands while in motion starting with the '04 model year.
We just got our US 2006 prius, blue with the leather and nav system, it came with 1 mile on the ODO. So far I'm getting 45 mpg, but I haven't figured it all out yet.
Is there a way to get the nav to dim when you turn on the headlights? Our UK 2004 prius has that feature, but the US 2006 seems to keep the bright background all the time
I want a lower price so i can pay it off and not have to get a loan.
How can people complain about a car that truly provides a step into the right direction? Sure, this hybrid does not offer a zero footprint solution but do you really think people will abandon cars as a method of transportation?
I got 44 mph with my 1986 Honda Civic Hatch.
