Sustainable Design 101 with… Cameron Diaz?

We're not sure what is more newsworthy; Cameron Diaz surprising Stanford engineering students during a guest lecture with William McDonough or the fact that Dr. McDonough and Cameron are friends? As part of an mtvU program placing celebrities in university classrooms (Madonna taught at New York's Hunter College) Cameron surprised students during a lecture on environmentally friendly design. When producers approached her with the idea she suggested McDonough of whom she says "Bill is one of those people who is thinking big, but is also producing."

Saw Bill McDonough speak at lunch today for Teresa Heinz' annual Women and Health conference. He wowed 'em. Nice new set of slides. Ask him about the designs for six new cities in China. Also looks like he's had a falling out with Ray Anderson of Interface.
Last year Cameron Diaz narrated Power Shift, a documentary featuring McDonough. They had not met in person yet. I suspect this was their first actual meeting. The amount of gossip coverage this has gotten just goes to show that in today's media world, nothing means anything until a celebrity says it does. Scary come to think of it.
