Hot Electric Scooters

Hot Electric ScootersWhat are the hottest electric scooters out there? Today, one of the most popular models currently is the eGO-2 Cycle which combines the best features of a bike and an electric scooter. It looks like a bike, but it also has headlights, turn signals, brakes and throttle. With aluminum silver-plated chassis it goes 25mph while climbing hills, and it weighs less than 120 lbs. The eGO retails for around $1400. Another hot scooter is the Ikoo, which we mentioned briefly in a previous post. It has a 600W motor that generates good acceleration. The cruising range is 15-18 miles, and the charge time is 4-6 hours from a flat battery, 1-2 hours from a partial charge. The frame is made of a stainless steel alloy, and the wheels have dual disk brakes. The standard model price for this scooter is under $1000. :: Ikoo Scooter and eGo Scooter via Goto Reviews

eGo looks like an 'underslung' scooter. Bet it would handle well.

I'm not sure what the post's author meant by saying that the eGo can "be used as a bicycle". It's a scooter that runs on electricity. There is no way to pedal it, when the battery dies. It does use a few parts that are similar to a bicycle (seat, wheels, rear frame and rack), so maybe that's what he meant?

My husband bought one of the original ones (direct from the factory in Providence, Rhode Island) and really liked it (before he tried to "improve" it by turning it into what I lovingly call the "dead Frankenscooter strewn across the back yard"). It does handle well, and can easily tow a bike trailer, so you can really make it your primary vehicle if you want your power to come from somewhere else other than your legs.
