Are those plastic?
Is that eco-friendly?

jump to top Steve says:

hi, what is that stuff made of? hemp would have been a better way of living the message!

jump to top Vanessa says:

Maybe I'm wrong and these wristbands are made of a sweet biodegradable polymer, but my feeling is that they are a vinyl derivative. Pretty ironic that the proceeds go to an environmental group.

Curious: does anyone know what these wristbands are made of? I think it's great that people are using fashion to raise eco-awareness, but I wonder how much harm the manufacturing of all these rubbery looking bands is doing. Are they made of recycled rubber? Does anyone know?

jump to top Meghan says:

A wristband. What an original idea!

jump to top Scott says:

ok first of all-- i am ashamed at the lot of ya.. you have a question about what these are made with.. what are you writing it on? a computer?? got google? seriously, about 11 seconds is what you need to know that these are made from silicon (just like the lance armstrong ones...), 5 more seconds and you get to see that Joss Stones' wristbands are kinda cute in a "peace & love & harmony" kinda way, i guess, but kinda stupid cuz; lastly... the silicon: can include the following in it's manufacturing process:

Antifoam Compounds, Chlorosilanes, Methyl Hydrogen Siloxanes, Methyl Resins, Silanol Fluids and Polymers, Siloxylated Polyethers with EO and PO, Siloxylated Polyethers with EO or PO

then there's also the questionable aspect that several Orgs using these wristbands as fundraisers have been caught using Sweathop wristbands (kinda allegedly like Phatfarm-- ...just not with their diamonds, those are 'ethical')

jump to top OrganicWhine [TypeKey Profile Page] says:

srry i meant sweatshop not sweat-hop (tho maybe that's what russel simmons, diddy, jayZ, JLo and the rest of 'em ought call their clothing lines, toxicllyGrown sweathopGear ...bling bling!)

jump to top OrganicWhine [TypeKey Profile Page] says:

Awesome that Joss Stone is speaking out on climate change. But...at the same time, she is also a model and spokesperson for the World Gold Council (association of gold mining companies).

I'm not sure if Joss has any idea about the kind of impact gold mining has on the environment and on peoples' health. She should check out www.nodirtygold.org for more information-- it is considered the most polluting industry in the world. Joss needs to shed her bling and take a stand on "dirty gold" mining!
