signs-science.jpgTwo days from now, on Wednesday, November 2, PBS will air their documentary "Global Warming: The Signs and The Science." Hosted and narrated by treehugging planet-champion Alanis Morissette (who won an Environmental Media Award in 2003), the one-hour documentary explores what some of us think to be the most significant environmental phenomenon in the past 10,000 years. Filmed in the US, Asia and South America, the program brings the reality of climate change to life and offers viewers examples of people making a difference in their own communities. The program also explores how individuals, communities and organizations across America are creating new approaches to change the current paradigm and safeguard future generations, so do us all a favor and check it out. It's scheduled to air at 8:00 pm locally; check local listings just to be sure. For anyone that misses it, it's available to buy from PBS here. ::PBS via ::League of Conservation Voters

A great companion to watching this show is Rodale's brand new Climate book

ahh, yes. i can see it now, handing this dvd to my hardcore republican uncle (who doesnt believe that global warming is the affect of human activities) that is narrated by the scientifically respected and world famous POP SINGER ALANIS MORISSETTE.

If you haven't noticed Global Warming is not a true issue.
1. If global warming was occuring, both Poles would be melting at a rate where colder water would be flowing down to the tropical areas reducing the amount of hurricanes.Hurricanes happen due to warmer waters. Melting poles would lower the tempatures of the water globally.
2.Would the days of the Dust Bowl be considered global warming? It was a time where no rain and unusual tempatures happened. It had nothing to do with millions of autos and factories. It was a cycle in the earth where it was hot and dry, nothing more.

The dust bowl has nothing to do with global warming. It ocurred when the land was over used for farming and all of the nutrients were stripped from the soil. The earth went through a dry period, but temperatures were normal for the time period. This issue can't be used for as an arguement for, or against global warming. It was misuse of the land.
As for #1, I just hope you do some research. That's just silly. You can't assume that the water will be colder, just because at one time it was ice. The entire globe is warming because all of the greenhouse gases are being held to closer to the surface of the earth. The water will warm up too.

I would say for you to do your research also. We did not use as much of our farmalnd as we do now. Yes we know how to put those nutrients back in the soil now. There was still too much unused land for us to be missuing it...and if we were missusing it that much our land would be alot worse in years following....they got better.

As for the water have you never seen the charts on how the ocean currents flow? If the water stood still...maby...but it is always moving. The last ice age was 12,000 years ago. What did primitive man do to cause the ice age? What did he do to end it? What makes you think we really have enough power to influence the whole earth? We have the power to raise the water tempatures that much?
Do some research yourself. A volcano puts out more pollution that all of our factories and autos combined.
