Garbage Land: The Website
by Lloyd Alter, Toronto on 10.20.05
Elizabeth Royte, author of Garbage Land, was kind enough to add her comments to our review of her book, and to point out that perhaps the ending of the book (and our review) was a bit negative. She is in fact quite optimistic that people can make a difference, and has put a "what to do" page on her website, including her last suggestion: "Don't lose heart" ::Garbage Land and thanks for showing us Chris Jordan.

Ok, what I expected, and maybe there is a website already out there, was a place for exchange of recycled materials. Kind of like a cross between EBay and Craiglist. There are people that go to the dump and literally save what could be used again. There are people that are quite in need of furniture or hardware or tools or clothing or whatever. And everything in between. Is there a place where these two can get together?? Am I being to vague? Am I being too naive?
I think that what you are looking for is Freecycle.org
We wrote about it:
