Sustainable & Affordable: Seagrass Chair

by Justin Thomas, Virginia on 10. 6.05
Design & Architecture (chairs)

05-0265_MSTR_large.jpgThis is the first in a series of "Sustainable & Affordable" posts that will highlight products for the home that meet those criteria. This low-profile chair is handwoven by Indonesian artisans out of renewable, fast-growing seagrass and includes a tufted cushion with an unbleached cotton blend cover. The frame is made of locally harvested Mango Wood with a clear, water-based lacquer finish. Available for $199 from Hanson Products

That really looks like a great chair, but even $199 is out of my league...definitely NOT affordable for this paycheck-to-paycheck mom of 4. Would love to see more products/furnishings/etc. that are even more affordable than this.

I'd like to feature something more affordable, but I don't know of anything that fits the bill. If someone has a tip please let me know.
