TreeHugger DIY Eco-Tech Finalist 3: Solar FM Cordless Headphones
by Sean Fisher, Cincinnati, Ohio
on 09.19.05
The third finalist in our DIY Eco-tech contest is Ben Jandrell and his Solar FM Cordless Headphones. With solar panels charging Ni-Mh cells in both the transmitter and receiver, Ben is able to hook this sytem up to his laptop and roam throughout his garden unwired and self-powered. Not content with keeping this to himself, Ben seems to have an eye on the potential this might have in the commercial market. "Ideally on a commercial version the headset’s solar panel should follow the profile of the headband, but I’m not that clever." Thanks to Ben for sharing it with us and entering the contest.
