prAna to Offset Retailers' Emissions
by Jacob Gordon, Nashville, TN on 09.10.05
Treehugger cited Prana last year as a promising maker of comfy clothes that include organics and recycled plastics. Now it seems Prana has taken things to the next level by announcing its Natural Power Initiative, a program that will begin offsetting energy consumption with the use of Green-e renewable energy certificates (see our post on How To Get Green Power). The company will start with its retailers by purchasing credits equal to the energy consumed by roughly 250 stores--some 6 million kWh. Stores that participate will be able to put a sign in the window stating that “100% of this store’s energy use is offset by certified Green-e wind generated power.” Prana will purchase the EPA certified Green-e certificates from 3 Phases Energy Services as a way of reducing the ecological footprint of the company. They have also made an ambitious future commitment to offset the consumption of all production in the U.S. and abroad, all 1000 retailers, Prana company HQ, and the homes of its employees. :: Prana

Hello,
My name is Lisa and I am with Aeromax, the wind turbine manufacturer of the
Aeromag Lakota 900W. The wind turbines that we manufacture are used as
residential on-site power sources for supplemental power and off-grid power.
Our Lakota Marine turbine is used on sailing vessels to replace diesel
generators. We also have a severe climate camouflage turbine, for low visual
impact, called the Lakota M1 and our power line of inverter modules called
MAGPOWER.
The Lakota is in the class of 1kW generators and stands out from all in the
same class. The leaps ahead of conventional wind turbines that the Lakota has
are its power to weight ratio, this 900W turbine typically peaks around 1500W
and weighs only 35 lbs. Its blades are made of aerospace engineered carbon
fiber that make them stiff and light, far more advanced than the fiberglass
or high density plastic blades our competitors use. Through our "Stealth
Acoustic" technology they are virtually silent, what we like to call them
"good neighbor turbines." You can see our turbine in the Wikipedia at
www.wikipedia.com under wind turbines. Finally, we have the lowest cost per
watt of any turbine on the market. There are many different ways to calculate
the cost per watt, particularly skewed to make the creators turbine look
good, and of them if you put in the Lakota 900W starting at the price that we
can provide it will be the lowest cost per watt!
What I am doing is sending this information to current wind and solar dealers
to expand the knowledge and dealers of the Lakota. Head to head we know that
you and your customers can see the advantages that the Lakota provides.
I have attached a product brochure for you to review. I hope to touch base
with you soon about dealer information.
Thank you,
