Nissan Shows "Pivo" Concept Electric Vehicle
by Justin Thomas, Virginia on 09.30.05
Asian carmakers surely do have a penchant for strange, concept electric vehicles. Nissan throws their hat in the ring with the "Pivo" car, seen here. It was created in partnership with Japanese artist Takashi Murakami at the company’s Nissan Ginza Gallery in downtown Tokyo. Nissan will show the car at the upcoming Tokyo Motor Show. It features an innovative cabin that revolves 360 degrees, eliminating the need to reverse. It has a compact body, making the car exceptionally easy to maneuver. For power, it uses Nissan's high-performance lithium-ion battery and Super Motor. :: Nissan via Green Car Congress

Easy to switch from rear-wheel to front-wheel drive!
I doubt there are the same number of gears in each direction. But think just how fast those parking garage attendants will be able to back up when they turn your cabin around first and slip it into top gear!
Someone didn't do their market research - "pivo" means "beer" in Russian and probably a host of other eastern european languages. Not the word an auto-maker should try to associate with driving.
hmm, MADD might not like the name; pivo means "beer" in Russian
I think this car looks cool, it appeals to the person who's on the never-ending search for an easier way of life (classic americanism) and boy do I hope those sell big time and convert the auto industry into something much much better :)
Pivo means, he he, beer in Czech :)
as Kermit the Frog once sang, "it is not easy being green."
I need to step away from the computer
on overload right now
but
will most certain come back
It's great to see research being done into retiring the ICE. But....
This is a prime example of why the electric car is misunderstood by the general public. Instead of producing a normal looking car that can directly replace peoples existing cars, they make cute little golf carts!!!
People are being given the choice....golf cart...or $500,000 SUPER ELECTRIC CAR!!!
Someone save us!
It looks like an aquarium :D
