Funny Mini-Cars - Prophetic or Just Photoshop Goofery?

Okay, we're warning you: This post is not serious. But we couldn't resist! These doctored pictures are just too much fun. We found this on AutoBlog and figured that it was very apropos in these times of rising oil prices (you can see our pre-Katrina prediction here, at the bottom) and shrinking cars (see our previous post about small Japanese cars that are coming to North-America). These pictures are obviously "fakes" so you can't buy a car like that, but then again, the smart car isn't that far removed in concept and who knows what the future holds...

It's not entirely unlike the Smart roadster actually...

FYI, when I tried to visit the site, the images were blocked by my employer's firewall, as presumably coming from a site recorded as gambling or pornography. Not to say these images themselves are such (I have no idea since I couldn't reach them), but just a note for those whose companies might be monitoring said usage. Caveat click-or?
You can find the real thing at The Bruce Weiner Microcar Museum. One of the nicer sports car models is the 1958 Berkeley B65. Judging by what's on display, it wouldn't take much to turn that photoshopped pic into reality!
This is real. I've seen quite a few at various bug bashes around the UK:

Mmm... air-cooled!
justanotherth,
After looking into it a bit, I found two possibilities: Your work could block the site because there's the word "ass" on the page ("Little cars kick ass!") or because the domain of that website contains links to porn and sexual humour (I just found this out).
But the page linked itself only contains pictures of small cars. Maybe you could try going there through google's cache or something like that? Or just from home...
I remember Japanese toy companies making facsimile of these things a few years back. The problem with making real ones is the diameter of the wheels... it would take a mighty, mighty engine to get any pick-up speed. What makes go-carts so spry is their tiny wheels, they grab the ground really quickly.
