Next weekend the Surfrider Foundation will continue their tradition of uniting popular rock stars with the protection of Earth's oceans and marine life. In the 90's Surfrider produced a series of excellent compact disc recordings that featured the likes of Paul McCartney, Pearl Jam, Beck, Jane's Addiction, Ben Harper, and other popular acts. The discs all featured songs about surfing, oceans and beach life. This year the organization is hosting the first ever Surfrider Foundation Celebrity Surf Jam. The event is taking place Sunday September 11th at Hunnington Beach Pier in Orange County, CA.

The Surf Jam will include Brandon Boyd, Mike Einziger and Ben Kenney of Incubus, Peter DiStefano (Porno for Pyros) and Jim Lindberg (Pennywise). Four-time Olympic medal winning swimmer Aaron Peirsol will also be competing in the event. Professional surfers include event Co-chair and co-star of the Endless Summer II, Pat O'Connell, Rob Machado, Jeff Deffenbaugh (Former WCT competitor and local surfer who is also helping to co-produce the event), and rising professional surfers Alex Grey and Dane Reynolds.
