Tango Meets Big Fan

ClooneyTango_Woodbury1.jpgThe dude leaning nonchalantly against the black Tango is none other than the very same George Clooney, whom we previously advised you was buying a Tango. And what’s a Tango? Run your cursor over that last link and this one and you’ll be inundated with pics and facts on this very sporty electric car. Now a Hollywood car chase, with one of these slipping in-and-out of traffic can’t be very far away. That might just raise the profile of alternative transport a notch or two. Photo by Rick Woodbury and borrowed from our pal, Remy, over at ::Electrifying Times.

I think that a car chase would end with the Tango falling over.

Fall over? with 2000 lbs of lead below the floor (the batteries are down there *specifically* for stability.) Unless you've got an equivalent mass of rock above the shoulders, the passenger is not going to contribute to a reduction in stability...

Dear Mr. Clooney,

At the next pro-celebrity race:

http://www.speedtv.com/programs/307/

would you * PLEASE * crash the party in your Tango?

The road course is just under 2 miles and the race is a total of ten laps, which is well within the driving range of the Tango's capacity.

I would even love the opportunity to design a portable solar charger embedded in a race trailer for you. It would be like having your very own gas station with garage AND a spare Tango (ya know..for the missus).

As a role model for representing alternative transportation, I do believe that now would be an excellent time to show the world that racing can be green as well. Your 20 mile command of the race could practically be totally fueled with clean sunlight which, by the way, travels at 186,000 miles per second squared. A Toyota Celica, by contrast, is fueled by dinosaur fossils and smells funny.

Well, I don't buy into the 'green' mantra, but Tango this! Old George flies all over the country/world in private jets. One flight from LA to NY would probably account for about 6 months of fuel in my Jeep! Give me a break! These so-called Hollywood do-gooders only do good when it suits them. Oh yeah! Did you know the Tango is just an 'addition' to his car and motorcycle collection?

In response to Andrews post...All I can say is that all of us can only purchase what is available. So what, George flys a plane, because that is what we've got at this time. Kudo's to Clooney for bringing a cleaner product to the markets' attention. I would prefer that it could be recharged using solar rather than having to build nuclear power plants to recharge our cars. On the other hand....www.TheAirCar.com uses compressed air and little electricity and cleans the air when you drive it. I hope George adds one of these to his collection!
