Recycled Glass Tumblers

tumblers.jpgJust the thing for a glass of organic guava juice, while sitting on the balcony, watching the sun sink lazily into another balmy summer evening. Uncommon Goods might call them ‘recycled glass’ tumblers but to be precise it’s reused glass—the glass is still in it’s original manufactured form. That’s because these glasses were once bottles (wine, water and soda), that have had their tops chopped off, before being cleaned and sandblasted. A little like the goblets we mentioned here. A set of four tumblers can be had for $40 USD. ::Uncommon Goods

mother earth news has their own version that are cheaper ($25/4) and i think more attractive. they are sandblasted with the oak tree from their logo reversed out.

Hey warren didn't you guys get one of those DIY glass cutting kits when you were a kid? Just slice the top of anything glass, polish it with whatever it was & hey presto, all kinds of tacky home-made glass receptacles!! Not the tall necks tho, gotta keep them to refill with home brew.

does anybody else remember the bottle top cutter sold on TV in the 70's so you could make your own glasses like these? Maybe made by Ronco?
