OMVIVO Membrane Chaise

by Justin Thomas, Virginia on 08.23.05
Design & Architecture (chairs)

membrane_bw.jpgIt's sure to get a reaction from anyone invited to sit on it. This unusual, metaelite lounge by OMVIVO is made out of electropolished, spiral wound, resistance welded, stainless steel mesh (whew). The membrane weighs 132 pounds so its not light, but it can support the weight of more than 6 people if required. It gets marks for minimalistic use of material and no chemical residues involved. :: OMVIVO Membrane Chaise

Sorry, but I have to ask... 132 pounds of stainless steel is a minimalistic use of material? I mean, 130lbs would be acceptable, but 132? Now that's just plain crazy!

yeah! when r green designers going to move from metal and "forest certified trees" to cool stuff like killah carbon fiber? specially now that so many companies are making hydrogen from methan, we will have more than enough goopy carbon to make as much carbon fibre benches, canoes, computers.... come on designers!!! give us some new materials!!!

Why not take the carbon out of CO2 instead of methane?

jump to top Eric says:

oh i know eric.... well they're separating the C out of the CH4, but its for the H to fill fuel cells/their wallets right?

but i'm totally down with you... y not scrub the air?? use some of these and make carbon fibre kayaks... or even better; lets make diamond chainsaws and drillbits with the Carbon
