regular.jpg We love when tipsters write to tell us how much they like a TreeHugger product (and our site!) and Jennifer D. did just that. Every J.R. Liggett’s Shampoo Bar is handmade from an old-fashioned New England recipe discovered in a cookbook. It is made of 100% vegetable oils that lather quickly, even in cold water, rinse clean and doesn’t strip your hair of its natural oils. The shampoo is biodegradable and, because of the minimal amount of packaging, is perfect for camping and backpacking. Jennifer tells us that it took a few weeks for her hair to adjust but says that this unique product is well worth it. Thanks for the tip! ::J.R. Liggett

I highly recommend Althaea Soaps and Herbals for all-natural, handmade, vegan soap. Melanie wraps her soap in minimal amounts of paper and grows the herbs in her own garden. Great stuff!

Via that site, I also found the top 50 handmade soap sites.

I bought this product as a result of this article and I must say, I will never buy shampoo in a plastic bottle again. This is the best stuff! I bought 3 more and am mailing them to friends!
