bamboodinnerware.gif We know all you TreeHugger’s like bamboo as much as we do so when we spotted these 100% organically grown bamboo place settings and dinnerware it made sense to write about them. Not only are they sturdy but they also biodegrade in six months after being tossed. They aren’t dishwasher or microwaveable safe, but the beautiful light blonde colors of the wood are food safe and they don’t contain bleaches or dyes of any sort. The description states: “Recommended for single use.” Okay, now we know that bamboo is a highly renewable resource, but does using them just once really make sense? We say: “Hand wash and use them again and again.” ::Hammacher Schlemmer

Anyone else think these look exactly like the Bambu "veneerware" plates and utensils that are available all over the place now (from cooking.com to my local whole foods)?

Looks to me like the "Bambu" single-use stuff rebranded.
Interesting that they claim it's organic. Bambu is not.

you aren't supposed to re-use porous eating utensils or surfaces because after it's wet, it harbors bacteria. you can reuse them once or twice if you want, but use antibacterial soap and check for nastiness.
