3D Furniture Modeling by Mathias Bengtsson

London-based designer Mathias Bengtsson modeled this chair in 3D on a computer. He used precision lasers to automatically cut individual plywood slices, which were assembled to give this chair the appearance of sculpted sandstone. Organic shapes like this were not possible to create before the advent of this kind of 3D modeling technology. But is it Treehugger-esq? Not likely if lasers are involved. What do you think? I'm putting in our "Almost" category for now, unless convinced otherwise! :: Bengtsson Design. Via: Land+Living
