Food Fight: A Vegan Grocery Store
by Kara DiCamillo, Newport, Rhode Island on 07.12.05
We’ve featured many different companies that sell organic and vegan food, but not many where you have the option to shop online. Here’s one that you can purchase all vegan products all in one shot, including vitamins, tattoo balm and even a no-kill mouse trap. Think of it as an online convenience store if you will. Located in Portland, OR, Emiko Badillo and Chad Miller keep a well-stocked store and all the prices are very reasonable. Basically you can find anything here except for booze and cigarettes. As with all convenience stores, they say in their intro that we could find condoms as well, but we had a hard time tracking those down. And here’s one huge plus for Food Fight: they ship internationally, but you must spend $10.00. We don’t think it’s that hard though. ::Food Fight Vegan Grocery

Wonderful to see Food Fight here on a site I visit everyday. As a neighbor of the store, I can vouch for them being good folks too.
If you're in the UK, you could always shop online at The Vegan Store (www.veganstore.co.uk). Quite a broad range of products and they're lovely people too.
As for condoms, Condomi are the only brand I know of to carry the Vegan Society logo (along with the British Standards Kite mark), Based in Germany and you can buy them online, too (www.condomi.com). Finally, vegans can have safe sex.
Apologys if either of these have been mentioned before.
Hah! I've been to Food Fight. They're nice folks.
They also told me about a store called Sidecar in Seattle which I now go to sometimes.
I think most major cities have one of these.
I too have been to Food Fight. The staff is pleasant and I fully support the idea, but I was disappointed as it's really tiny and not particularly well stocked. My suggestion is that they attempt some sort of fresh baked goods, sandwich, meal type of thing where people can get vegan food on the go AND pick up the occasional box of vegan something-something. Right now, it's mostly lonely boxes of flavorless baked chips and crackers.
I don't want to disparage the store (I know this comment sounds bitchy), but I'd really like to see them thrive. Just need a few enhancements.
By the way, I grew up in Newport, Rhode Island. Boy, I miss it this time of year.
Dear Business Community leader:
The reason we’re notifying you is in regards to some important regulatory information regarding renewable energy have you seen or heard about this? It’s called Green Power. It’s a marketing term used to describe energy that is specifically made from renewable resources like solar, wind, hydro electric and bio mass. You might have heard some of these buzz words on TV or read about them in magazines or websites. The U.S. government and the EPA Green Power Partnership are actively searching for today’s leaders across the nation from all business sectors like yours, to become an EPA's Green Power Partners by replacing significant portions of the electricity they use with green power. By buying green power, Partners choose to support power sources that improve the environment.
Federal guidelines dictate that American businesses have to purchase at least 25 percent of their energy from renewable energy sources or green power by 2010, which is very soon. By getting started today your leadership in the community will encourage other companies to do the same and help our Children, Earth and environment, to better guarantee that there will be a bright tomorrow for future generations.
All Green power is made in the United States by Americans, to be used for Americans. Isn’t it time we started to rely on our energy sources to be manufactured here in the US instead at foreign oil fields?
Please visit our Website for more information at www.evergreen-power.com or call today at 877-583-3950. We look forward to your leadership in helping your community, our world and the future for our children.
Respectfully yours,
Tiffany McLaughlin

Sorry, we must disagree, we have no bland baked chips. We are a proponent of deep fried vegan junk food.Tons of chocolate, salt, and grease. As Jebus intended.
