New Adidas Hemp: Dakota Lo

Perhaps due to the resurgence of interest in their hemp shoes, Adidas has introduced a new shoe called the "Dakota Lo Hemp". This cranberry number is a reintroduction of the original Adidas basketball shoe from in the late 70s. It's reasonably eco-friendly in its construction, it has hemp uppers and laces. I believe the sole is made of natural rubber (latex). The company has nearly elimated PVC in all its products and has reduced its use of VOCs in its glues. More information can be found on their corporate site. It appears the shoe is available only from the Adidas store for $55. Via MetaEfficient.Com

You posted the link to the leather version!
After following the Adidas Store link, you need to do a search for "Dakota Lo Hemp" to find the hemp version. The Adidas site keeps redirecting me back to the "regular" version, even when you use the URL from the page with the hemp version.
Yeah, the Adidas store web site works in mysterious ways. I think I found a link that works, and updated it in the posting.
Finally a material conscious shoe that looks good and doesn't cost a ton of money. Good work Adidas. I wonder if they will expand with this line of shoes.
It sounds great so far, but I wonder what kind of glues they are using - is this a 100% vegan shoe? Anybody know?
I found a blue version of this shoe in a local sneaker boutique (Cambridge, MA) I've no ideas about the glues but the stripes and heel area are certainly vinyl. The blue version doesn't seem to be on their website, unless they've got a really bad photo for their flint/bone color selection...
