Planet S’s 'Wadi' - the Bike Gaiter

wadi-2.jpgNow, at Treehugger we have a fondness for tempting you away from your car. And we do have a passion for promoting bicycles as a sustainable form of transport. But many people wanting to commute to work are wary of getting their trouser leg caught in a potentially dirty chain. If your bike does not have a chain guard like most city bikes in Europe do, you can wear the Wadi bike gaiter to protect your lower leg. An idea from Switzerland, the materials used, like Kevlar, are not overly benign but will give long, durable service and protect you some from splashing puddles. For a spare 45 Swiss Francs, these might just help you leave the car at home. ::Planet S [by WM]

Even more so than for chain oil: the gators are great to keep your ankles dry on rainy days. You can also find versions than cover the foot (and leave a space in case you use clips) which prevents those wet socks hanging next to your spare suit coats in the office closet or over the radiator in the toilets. Never mind how cozy your feet remain so you can pedal straight through the nippy, wet days.
