OP37.jpgIf you've been waiting and waiting to see the Organic Portraits show that we profiled a few months ago, your wait is over. Summer Rayne Oakes will be showcasing the photographs, along with a number of other initiatives of the program at this year's United Nations World Environment Day in San Francisco. This is the first time in WED's 30 year history that it has been held in North America...

The activities that Summer Rayne will be introducing along with the unveiling of the Organic Portraits project include:

• Collaboration with Mercado Global in connecting women’s weaving/jewelry cooperatives directly to the U.S. fashion market through appropriate and ethical marketing; while providing fair wages to the workers and investing in educational programs in the participating communities
• Development of an eco-fashion and responsible consumer curriculum, entitled Ecofashion 101, designed for high schools and some college programs
• Development, promotion and placement of eco-fashion designs, services, exhibitions, shows and concepts in the marketplace

World Environment Day runs this entire week (June 1-5) in San Francisco, California.
