Oldberri's Multiple Purpose Clothes Recycling
by Paula Alvarado, Buenos Aires on 05.30.05
Flea markets and vintage clothing are, besides of a fashion trend, in some aspect a part of sustainable living. Many resources are spent in making pieces of clothes, and not all of us give them as much use as they can take, so the extension of their life cycle is a great alternative to the trash can. But what happens with those clothes that just won't go through another day, too worn out or wracked? The cooperative Oldberri, situated in Errenteria (a town located in the province of Gipuzkoa, in the autonomous community of Basque Country, North of Spain), sells it to companies to produce acoustic isolation blankets and industrial cleaning rag. They also fully refurbish some and sell it to used clothing stores. If you feel like cleaning your closet, check the containers locator (cities all across Spain) to drop your contribution. ::Oldberri.
