Made-By is a "shadow label" created by the Amsterdam-based organization Solidaridad to indicate that a clothing manufacturer has a sustainable production line and encourages customers to "meet the makers" of the clothing. Thus, Made-By emphasizes transparency of the manufacturing process, rather than ethical distinctions such as "fair" or "unfair". Currently four clothing labels are involved: Kuyichi, Imps & Elfs, State Of Art and X'—AS. With photographs and story snippets, the Made-By website highlights all the stages of production — from cotton picking to purchasing. Short biographies of the workers involved are included. :: Made-By [by Justin Thomas]
