the International Contemporary Furniture Fair just ended and as always, there is much to amaze and delight. The New York Times considered it less edgy than usual but if you look at Mocoloco its pretty impressive. Trolling for green and sustainable products, we found The TranSglass line, a collaboration between Dutch designers Tord Boontje and Emma Woffenden. These vases and tumblers are made by cutting recycled wine and beer bottles with a diamond saw and polishing the edges.
Furthermore, they are made in a Guatemalen glass shop by local residents as part of Artecnica's "Design with Conscience" program employing craftsmen and artists in third world countries. ::Artecnica via ::Metropolis by [LA]
