We are going to send you to ::Organic Bouquet, the "Internet's first eco-florist" and ::local Harvest, a huge network of organic growers. In California, visit ::Full Belly Farm. Others can buy through ::Johnnygreenseed.com

I ordered a nice looking bouquet from OrganicBouquet (for mom of course) the other day, and only as I was about to hit "buy", did I see these babies are getting flown in from South Africa.

No matter how organic they are, flying them in from that distance almost certainly negates any treehuggerish bonus I might have gotten. It's a bummer, but very important to consider. If I knew a local florist with local flowers, even if they're not organic, I would have chosen them, and it would probably have been better choice sustainably speaking for many reasons.

Interesting point. Most flowers at florist shops in my area (N. California) are flown in from South America. Perhaps a farmer's market would be a better alternative. I have seen flowers for very reasonable prices at a local farmer's market.
