yhst-32031163094313_1843_8391328.jpgThis online store only features products which have been Fair Traded, meaning they were produced by low-income artisans and farmers who were compensated equitably for their work. The store is run by Global Exchange, which is an international human rights organization which was formed in 1988. This oven mitt and potholder set is produced by a village cooperative in Thailand called "Tribal Fiber". The mitt and potholder are 90% hemp and 10% cotton with fire resistant filling. Hemp is very durable, so it is an ideal fiber for this kind of application. The colors are produced by using flowers, leaves, seeds, bark and earth to create natural dye. The set sells for $15. :: FairTrade Online Store [by Justin Thomas]
