El Bolson - An Organic Municipality

Continuing on with the theme noted by the city of Maharishi Vedic in Iowa, we should make mention of El Bolson. Located in the valley of the same name, this Patagonian town of about 16,000 is south of Argentina’s skiing and climbing mecca; San Carlos de Bariloche. A bunch of international hippies settled here in the 60’s and since then the valley has become a paragon of organic lifestyles. Famous for its agriculture production of organic fruit and vegetable, together with hops for beer, it's a tourist attraction in its own right, largely because of the low environmental impact of the local industries.
