We seem to be on a bit of a compact-living kick (see Mini Mod furniture), perhaps inspired by Apartment Therapy’s Smallest, Coolest Apartment Competition. Murphy beds have always seemed a bit deceptive: hordes of extra space are promised, but the bed’s footprint has to be kept more or less open anyway. But what if the bed folded up and left a table in its place? You don’t need a dinner table when you’re sleeping, and you don’t need a bed when you’re eating. It might make more sense to use the table as a desk, but you’ll have to clear off the iBook and any other office junk before going to sleep, which seems a bit of a pain (there’s an optional side unit with a computer desk built in).
