on 04. 5.05
Hosted by The Woodworkers Guild of Southern California and Treepeople, Good Wood is an event to promote environmental consciousness in the making of furniture and other objects. The exhibition begins this week (April 7) in California and continues through June at several different locations. It features 42 pieces by fine California woodworkers made with environmentally sound materials and methods while addressing the issue of sustainability through design. William Stranger is one of the exhibitors at the event and is also co-organizer. His products are diverse and include tables and benches of urban salvaged trees, tables of recycled lumber, cabinets made of bamboo panels and FSC certified well-managed wood. Stranger’s Monolith bench (shown above) is made from salvaged walnut and will be one of several pieces exhibited. Be sure to check his website for more beautiful furniture. ::Good Wood [by KD]
