Control Tape For Hair by Aveda

aveda.jpg Gum? Check. Lipstick? Check. Wallet? Check. Control Tape for those midday disasters...hmm. That’s right, something else to add to your purse or pocket to help you throughout the day. Control Tape is the newest creation from the eco-friendly folks at Aveda and is made from organic flaxseed, aloe and black tea with a touch of coconut to add shine. Simply rip off a strip of the clear tape, moisten with a bit of tap water, and it transforms easily into liquid styling hair gel. It comes in a palm-sized, flat-as-a-credit-card plastic dispenser so you’ll have no problem cramming it in next to the Dentyne. Control Tape is only available for a limited time and is $19.50 for 20 strips. Makes us wonder which eco-celeb we’ll see flashing it. ::Aveda [by KD]

How is a new plastic container with a product for affluent people "eco-friendly"?

I was thinking the exact same thing! While yes, conceptually it's cool in the exact same way mint strips are cool, it's probably the most packaging for the least product of any hair care product EVER by a factor of 10x or more.

Totally.

What I'd really like to see is more of what the local co-op in Seattle does - offering some soaps and shampoos in bulk, so you can come back and refill your bottle. I've harassed a few suppliers about it, and the most frank response I've gotten is that a product's bottle is considered good advertising. Ridiculous.

I work at AVEDA in Sydney and i think its a great idea!! as a person with short hair and always needing a last minute hair touchup but dont want to carry around a jar of gel its ideal!! and its made from organic flaxseed, aloe and black tea its a conveinent way to carry around a non synthetic plant based product what more could a girl want!!! im really looking forward to it comming to Australia!

Aveda have beautiful branding, but their products are generally not that eco friendly. There's a basis of organic vegetable and mineral matter, but still unnecessary chemicals included.
