The Freecycle Network

I have a friend named Heidi whose house I always try to be at on the days she cleans out her closet. Heidi is a really good shopper. And when she does her Goodwill sweep, you want to be on the receiving end, because you’ll undoubtedly end up with a gorgeous shirt, some bed linens, and a belt that are all new to you (and likely NWT), even though she’s deemed them giveaways. Bet you wish you had a Heidi, huh? Well, now you do. It’s called Freecycle and it’s like the Craig’s List of giveaways and take-homes. The Freecycle Network, which started in May 2003 to promote waste reduction in Tucson and help save the desert landscape from being taken over by landfills, ...
provides individuals and non-profits an electronic forum to recycle unwanted items. Whether you want to find a new home for that chair that doesn’t fit your new apartment, an old fax machine, or a product that just didn’t work for your hair type (don’t you hate when that happens?) you can simply send an e-mail offering it to members of your Freecycle group. Need one of the above? It works both ways. The only big rule is that everything posted must be free, legal, and appropriate for all ages, so no trading solar-powered sex toys or orange-flavored vodka, dig? For that, you’ll have to meet up at your own personal Heidi-type’s house. Thanks for the tip Peter Yao! ::Freecycle [by MO]
