“It’s only a matter of time before one of those things takes a crap in the house,” Julia Louis-Dreyfus says of the pelicans and other birds circling over her house. “I’m not too keen on that, but what can I tell ya? They live here, too.” And just why do birds have such access to her home? In her state-of-the-art sustainable house, a retractable roof lets hot air out and cool ocean air in—along with whatever else might be lingering above. But Louis-Dreyfus and her husband Brad Hall are unflustered, pleased to be living somewhere so efficient and comfortable.
