Walden Recycled Kayaks

A barrel over Nigara? What about a shampoo bottle down some whitewater rapids? Walden Kayaks are made mostly from recycled HDPE plastics, such as also found in milk bottles. They figure that over the years they've diverted over 600 tons of the stuff from landfills. Specialising in...

...recreational, sporting and touring kayaks, the model shown here, the 'Experience' is for lakes, quiet waters and rivers, and protected ocean bays. So maybe avoid the Colorado for the moment. It weighs in at 17 kg (37 lbs) and can be ordered in up to 5 colours. The Walden range is nearly 20 models, including an ocean ready outrigger style. The High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) plastic can be welded for repairs, is eminently recyclable once the boat reaches the end of useful life, and Walden offer a 2 year warranty. ::Walden [by WM]

Walden just recently shut down its operation.

I am on search for a new walden kayak; is it my understanding that they are no longer manufacturing? I recently saw an ad for a new style of outrigger which led me to believe they were still in business. Is there anything you can do to put me in contact with these people if they are still in business. I admire and respect their recycling style and therefore, that is the type of company that I wish to support.

I purchased over 100 Walden Kayaks at their liquidation auction and have made arrangments with former Walden Employees to help me finish these off. I have all the models and am selling
them to the public at 2005 Wholesale plus 10%.
Together with 2 other guys, we bought 8000 paddles and have wholesaled nearly all but have some Laminex?Walden Coastal to go with the boats. I also have wooden paddles. Meyers Boat company purchased the Walden name and most of the molds.
They have all the parts should you ever need any and I have extra parts as well. If you are close to Michigan, call Bill Brown at Meyers. If you're
in the Northeast, Call me. Marty Bloomberg 508-992-4144 or 603-313-3142 (cell)

As life usually is, things are not what they appear! At the beginning, Walden Kayaks used a great deal of recycled plastics. But during the last few years, a very small percentage was used do to lack of supply and cost. If it gives you a warm fuzzy, go ahead and believe your floating in a milk bottle!

Am trying to find a Walden Naturalist kayak. I prefer a red one, but will take any you can find. Please contact me if you find one. Also, do you know who bought Walden Paddlers, Inc.?
Thank for your help,

I have a Walden Spirit Kayak that needs a seat. Can I order one through you?

Unfortunately we are just a web magazine, Ann, we're not a sales outlet for anyone featured on these pages.

But you might have better luck following up on this link and contacting Earth Friendly Kayaks directly. Cheers, warren

I have purchased an old used Walden Paddlers Kayak and can't find the HULL ID No. Any suggestions on how to locate this?
