Ukao Bamboo 'Yolanda' Chair

by TreeHugger on 11.30.04
Design & Architecture (chairs)

ukao-chair-detail2.jpgNo Chinese Pandas were harmed in the making of this chair. They don’t like this species of Bamboo. But we thought you might. Laminated into plysheets using an adhesive, with 6 times less offgasing than required by the strictest German standards (since adopted by the EU). Designed in California by Gerard Minakawa, who has Bolivian and Argentinian parents. Gerard obviously didn’t think there was enough of a world mix in his life, 'cos he's named his furniture business, Ukao, which is Swahili for Way of Life. He also crafts tables and custom designs. ::Ukao [by WM]
